I've deleted my post with the Fire Aero photo. I apologize for distracting the thread.

Yep, use Liquid Decal Film. You can also use Future (Pledge).

Right. Case in point, about 1 hour ago I first coated these vintage SA-205 tank decals for this S1B. If I hadn't coated them with liquid decal film they would probably shredded in the water--which happened to me WAY too many times before I started coating decals that were either old or very thin--or both. Since then I've not a decal disintegrate.

The vintage Estes Aero-Fin is complete. The old decals were a challenge even after applying decal solutions. Sometimes with vintage decals, you just have to be happy even if they are not perfect.

It turned out very nice. I don't see ANY flaws in the decals.

I don't even want to think about making that body tube to fin bend with vintage decals.

I was kidding a bit. I do usually use 4 coats, but I thin the Brodak so it flows well. I have used more on a few occasions. By the way, since I thin it so much, I ran out of their thinner before the sanding sealer. I have used big box store lacquer thinner with no issues.

Lee,
For smaller I have had no issues using it without thinning. On larger fins I do thin it a tad so it brushes on smoother. |

I'm surprised using "Hardware" store Lacquer thinner does not ruin it. Maybe you got a batch that does not have methanol. I know with 100% certainty that Methanol RUINS Color Aero Gloss Dope. It's just a way for chemical companies to stretch expensive chemicals with cheap junk. Works with "standard household" non-automotive lacquers.
