Rockets of the World Scratch Builds
What rockets have you scratch built from the data in Rockets of the World?
If you built it from a kit don't post it here. But if you created a kit you sold to others based on data you got from ROTW, go ahead and post that. I'm curious how many of Peter's drawings have been converted into models. Post pics if you've got em. Here are three of mine: 1. Pad Abort One 2. Indian SLV-3 3. Hydac |

Where's the Hydac (or is it the similar Javelin III--see http://www.rocketreviews.com/review...velin_iii.shtml and http://www.designation-systems.net/...4/nike-xxx.html )? I see two photos of the Apollo Pad Abort test vehicle and one of the SLV-3, but no Hydac.

I have a few in the queue, including a Nike Smoke, a WASP, a Nike Tomahawk and a Black Brant II, that I haven't started yet. I started a Sandhawk a couple of years ago, but it is currently stalled while I obsess over the details.
Funny thing is, I started with that one because I thought it would be "easy." I expect to do more scale building as time goes on, and ROTW, as well as its supplements and Peter's other books have been a real boon for that. I do see, though, that I may need to supplement some of the entries will more detailed plans. MarkII

Just a few? Every time I pick up the book or a supplement, I add something to my "Oooo. I gotta try that one" list.

1/3 scale Sonda 2
This was cropped from a pic off the local club's website. By the time this picture was taken I had sold the rocket to another member of the club because of recent (1990's) ATF increase in enforcement of LEUP/magazine laws. I think he left rocketry also. I don't know what became of the rocket. |
