But yes, I wish I could find more of the vintage catalogs...they are just dang hard to find. I’d like to have some from the 50s like you said and I’d really like to have a couple from the very early 70s as well, say around 71-73 or so. Maybe some of those will eventually pop up.

I have been getting some of the various Xacto booklets and carving guides and such from the early 70s and some of those might have a page or two of some knives, knife sets, blades, etc., and one can see some subtle changes in product from some of that, compared to the 69-70 catalog and certainly the 1978 catalog. I guess every little piece of info helps in some way.

As other related docs come to light I will report what I find. If others do the same, that will certainly help.

And thanks in advance to Scott for posting some of these bigger scanned documents here that are hard to email back and forth.

Earl
Great research Earl. I appreciate the scans you sent last night. I’m going to go through those again tonight when I have more time.

Folks may have seen this listing already, but a pretty good deal on this little tool. New old stock, so still sealed.

That's a really good price. I've seen those in sets but not so much in a package like that.
The other day I unearthed my Starrett 166C Pin Vise and a box of miniature bits so for now I'll need to pass. If the UPS guy or the Postman shows up here again anytime soon with another package my wife is gonna kill me ...

I recently asked Sue if she had any of the "old style" #24 and #19 blades that are actually wider than the collet slot, which gives them more "cutting area".
No luck, she has none for sale.
I think those were discontinued sometime in the late 60's to early 70's although pics showed them much later in hobby catalogs.

Thanks GH.
I had been meaning to contact Sue about the "old style" #24 blades. So far I haven't broken any of mine and I'm still on the first one and keeping it sharpened.
I guess that's one thing I like about the #24 those don't seem as prone to breaking the tips if I bear down on them a bit.

I found a replacement in the event I'm left with broken blades and broken hearted:
https://www.mcmaster.com/x-acto-sty...rade-number~24/

and there are some Techni Edge branded ones on eBay
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Box-of-10-...VQAAOSwy6hcevgi

I'll just continue on with my three vintage Xacto #24 blades for now ... so far, so good
