Default Estes Skytracer #1361 info

Does anybody know the exposed length (minus the shoulder, exposed lip to tip)
of the P/N 071001, PNC-50SP plastic nose cone?

I want to build a Skytracer (#1361) using a 071026 Crossfire style nose cone.
The canopy will be make from cardstock from a template by Greg Poehlein.

It seems the Crossfire nose cone is longer than the PNC-50SP.

The PNC-50SP nose cone was used in the following kits:
1341 World Federation Space Probe
1361 Skytracer
1364 Falcon Commander
1373 Soaring Eagle
1909 USSF Fireflash
1933 X-16
1946 Starhawk
1988 Argosy
2140 Venom

Thanks in advance!

"Jack Hydrazine" posted the nose cone with canopy over at Thingiverse (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4620461). Not sure if that helps you out or not.

Chris,
I do have a cone that looks like the PNC-50SP without a cockpit, but sure it didn't come from the Crossfire kit- looks like a PNC-50BB or PNC-50V. It is the exact same length as the PNC-50SP.

Chris,

I have one. It was previously used, and painted white. It was sanded to repaint, but that was years ago.
I will send it to you free of charge if you want it. Just PM me with your address.

Many thanks to
Kevin J, GHRocketman and Lee R for your help.

Looks like the Crossfire nose cone (071026) and the (canopy)PNC-50SP nose cone
are the same length, at about 5 5/8" long.

The 1081 and 1982 Estes catalogs say the Skytracer is 13" tall.
My clone build (using the parts list body tube lengths) ends up at 14" tall!
One of my measurements is off, or maybe the catalog spec. is incorrect.

Sometimes building a clone presents problems and compromises.

Chris-
I can confirm that a BT-50H from another kit is 7.75" so my guess is the catalog is the error.

I have a long term project to build/clone all the kits that featured the PNC50-SP cone.
