Default E60 & spool

Hello. I have a half dozen of the old FSI E60-4 motors laying around. They've been stored indoors in my closet so likely are still good. Not sure if I should save them for posterity or use them. The only rocket I would feel comfortable risking is a LOC Cool Spool. (I used to use them in an Aerotech Wart Hog (3x), but it only worked ok under conditions with no wind and rod vertical).

I know the spool normally flies using F or G motors, but given the high initial impulse of the E60 I'm thinking it might work. A low ejection wouldn't be much of a problem with the spool.

Any thoughts?

(I also have some FSI F7-4 motors....planning on building an ultralight weight sacrificial rocket for those....the low thrust and short delay makes it quite the odd ball motor...).

Seeing as my experience with the disastrous FSI E60 is over a 50% cato rate, I wouldn't use them in anything worth more than $1.98.

Halloween Bowl rockets are good motor test vehicles. Only $1 at the Dollar Store. Just add a motor tube, centering rings (to lock it in a cutout in the bowl), and launch lug.

Lee's idea above is probably the ONLY worthwhile use of old FSI E60 motors.

The 50% CATO rate was when they were new. I still have a few that I use as fireworks displays when I do a scout or school launch and the CATO rate is now 100% for motors that have been properly stored for almost 25 years.

I didn’t mention, but I built that Halloween Bowl rocket to use up E9s. Although I’ve only flown maybe a dozen E9s, most in standard rockets back when they came out, and a few newer E9s in the bowl rocket, I’ve not had any catos. I still have a few E9s, plus a pack of E12s, so there is some chance I might actually get to experience one.
