Default Estes Cherokee-E, 2408, Hobby Lobby Exclusive & Magician 2440

Attached is the RockSim flight simulation file I created for the Estes Cherokee-E, EST 2408, Hobby Lobby Exclusive. This file does not contain pods so it can be opened with Open Rocket software. I wonder why this design did not come out as a payload model; which would provide a even better stability margin especially if someone wanted to use larger 24mm composite motors? This would be an easy conversion; switch the main and lower body tubes and add a BT55 bulkhead and screw eye to the bottom of the red tube coupler. I also would suggest using a 24mm motor retainer (Estes part number 009751) instead of the Engine hook.

I'm ditching the red tube coupler completely and am using a proper balsa payload bulkhead.
Rocketarium metal screw-on engine retainer also.

Yes, there is such a thing as NORMAL
, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, and HAVOC !

The Rocketarium retainers are nice. I loaded up on both the 18mm and 24mm sizes when they were first announced. The pricing special when they were first introduced was pretty attractive.

I bought a bunch of 24mm at that time as well.

I just built one last night. I believe it's a Magician with the payload section, nose cone, and transition removed and replaced with a BT-55 nose cone.
Many of the Hobby Lobby "exclusives" are Estes kits with minor changes:
Luna Bug and Mosquito
ESAM-58 and Sasha
Solo and Double Ringer
Vapor and Star Orbiter
Epic II and Sterling Silver
This minimizes developmental costs for Estes while retaining HL as a customer with "exclusive" kits only available from them.

Both of them look great. Now on to the priming, sanding and painting!

I compared the instructions for the Estes Magician and Cherokee-E and it appears that you are correct. Attached is the RockSim flight simulation file I created for the Estes Magician #2440. This file does not contain pods so it can be opened with Open Rocket software.
