Goblin Vinyl Decal using Cricut
I made my first vinyl decal on my Cricut, using a downloaded decal image from the Jimz site. Previously I had just created a simple name decal using Cricut Design Space. I chose the Goblin decal, since it is single color. However, it has a fair amount of detail in the goblin images, and they are quite small. The Cricut did and amazing job. Weeding out tiny little openings like the eyes, or interior openings in text, were easy since the cuts are so precise.
Images can be sized easily. Since this decal has a stripe for wrapping around the tube, I just sized the strip to match the circumference (plus a tint bit more) for fitting a BT-55. I spent a LOT of time trying to get my first image to cut, and realized that my original image, a PDF, which I converted to JPG, caused lots of issues. It had a white background that really messed up any attempts. Once I uploaded an actual JPG from the Jimz site, all worked perfectly. Shown is the weeded decal, prior to applying the clear transfer film, which allows the decal to be placed and burnished onto the body tube, fin, etc.
