Default 2021 New Estes Beginner Kits - Cadet & Solo

News from my local hobby shop states these new for 2021 beginner kits are now available. The Cadet is #2021 and has a MSRP of $14.99. The Solo is #7288 and has a MSRP of $19.99. I guess we will have to wait for the new catalog to get specs on it. These were originally available only at Hobby Lobby.

RC Planet already has placeholder page up for the Cadet, and surprisingly, HL has deleted both from their website.

Estes Cadet EST2021
$14.99

A fast and easy build, featuring injection molded base with integral fins and launch lugs. Included a pre-colored body tube with stickers for decoration. No painting required. Utilizes a 12" brightly colored parachute for recovery. Great looking and fast assembly is why you'll love the Cadet.

Recommended Engines: A8-3, B4-4, B6-4, C6-5, C6-7

Specifications:

Skill Level: Beginner
Length: 17.5 in. (44.5cm)
Diameter: 0.98 in. (25mm)
Est. Weight 1.7 oz (48.2g)
Recovery: 12 in. (30.5cm) Parachute
Projected Max Altitude: 1100 ft (335m) on a C6-5

The Solo is a Double Ringer with different fins - same style, just setup for one glider. Info on Rocket Reviews from some familiar folks 😉

I don’t recall if the Cadet was labeled as part of the Space Force line but won’t be surprised if it is.

Ah....so in the changeout at Hobby Lobby that Bill Stine mentioned in his vNARCON virtual tour, some of the former H-L exclusives will be going to the "regular" market it wold appear....as both of these have been H-L exclusives for awhile (oops - as you noted).

I have and have several flights on a Solo.

I just bought a couple of Cadets on clearance at Hobby Lobby. $3.59 each. I think I'll build one almost stock just to have another little casual flyer. I will probably use a conventional launch lug instead of the two loops.....and maybe turn the top couple of inches into a payload compartment for small altimeters.
