Default October 24, 2021 Launch

I've been patiently waiting for the corn to be harvested so I can get my flying field back.
This afternoon was my window of opportunity. Partly sunny, 60F, and calm breezes.
It's been raining for two nights so no chance of setting anything on fire today.
Cinematography credits to my better half as usual.

Here's the lineup:

Odyssey clone
Enerjet 1330
4FNG Retro
Vintage Bertha
Rescue Bertha
Blue Bird Zero
2X Javelin
Aero Dart
Super Big Bertha
Solar Sailer
Vintage Goblin

First into the sky was my Odyssey clone on C6 power.
Very nice flight but it snapped two fins on touchdown.
Despite searching for a good 10 minutes I never did find them.

Flight #2 would be my home brew Enerjet 1330.
This was the model that gave me trouble at the July 4th launch when it deployed the laundry while still under thrust.
This time I skipped the composite power and went for a C5-3.
I was rewarded with a textbook perfect flight with some nice altitude and a smooth descent rate.

Next up was my wife's BT-80 retro model. I really wanted to fly this on a composite D20.
The igniter went, the engine did not. I didn't have any spares so I changed it out for a D12.
A lot of power for a D12. It left the pad like it was an E12. Great flight!
Recovery was trouble free thanks to the new shock cord I installed last evening.

Flight #4 would be my vintage Bertha from 1978. It was to be a D20 as well but settled for a C5-3.
This model is overbuilt so I'm used to not getting much altitude, but the C5 performed admirably.
A nice, high, straight flight and a short retrieval walk.

Fifth in line was my rescue Bertha on C6 power.
My wife was disappointed that I didn't drag race it with the vintage one.
Next time I'll have to bring a spare launch controller.
Not as impressive as the C5 flight but still fun.

My slightly upscale Blue Bird Zero had a great ascent on a composite E26.
The nose popped but the chute didn't. It came in streamer style.
I was anticipating some carnage on impact but it only cracked the paint on one root joint.
This model has seen some serious punishment in the last 15 years, but it's still keeping the faith.

Flight #7 was the old reliable. My 2X Javelin on E12 power.
This flight was just as good as every other one it's ever made.
Straight, high, and trouble free.

Flight #8 goes to my orange Aero Dart on an E26. This model is also a great performer.
Those composite motors are loud and make for an impressive flight.
This was the longest recovery walk of the day at about 100 yards.

Ninth in line was the Super Big Bertha, also on an E26.
Great flight but I probably shouldn't have brought this one. It doesn't do well in cornfields.
It snapped a fin on touchdown. The same fin it broke last summer.

My Solar Sailer on C5 power was tenth in line.
This must be the perfect engine for this model because I can't remember ever getting such a good flight from it.
Nice touchdown at the top of the field and no damage.
