Default Hawks Hobby Super Mark

At the 2007 Florida WinterNationals, my wife won a Hawks Hobby Super Mark kit in the raffle. She was nice and let me build it.

The kit is packaged in the standard way. Opening the bag, you discover that all the parts are high-quality. The centering rings, for example, are laser cut from thin plywood and a pre-assembled nylon parachute is included.

Assembly is straight-forward and the instructions are detailed. The only problem I ran into was having the motor mount stick as I slid it into the body tube. I used wood glue and should have remembered that it binds when sliding things together like that. But a sharp rap against the table moved the motor mount into place.

I painted the rocket "Apple Red" and used the Monokote provided in the kit to add stripes.

I flew the rocket on an C11 and the flight was flawless.

The Super Mark is a nice tribute to G. Harry Stine's design and the Estes's early days.

The Super Mark is a great kit and fun to fly. I used a C6-3 the last time I flew it (see my flight logs in the above linked review) with a 2050 interchangable motor mount. How about
posting your Super Mark's flight in the EMRR flight log?!

BTW, GREAT pics you posted!
