REAL Whisky comes from SCOTLAND.
I prefer Lagavulin 16, Glenlivet 18, Glenfiddich 18, or ANY Macallan over 12year.

Good BOURBON such as Blanton's is really good too, albeit pricey at about $90/750ml.

Have yet to find any Irish Whisky that suits my palate. Most are too harsh.

Most Canadian Whiskey of Crown Royal level or above is decent. Wiser's 18 is really nice.

That Japanese whisky (like all their cars with rinky-dink junk motors) is an abomination just like non-japanese Sake is.

Not cask-strength, but straight out of the bottle and in the appropriate glass. If I add ice and/or water then I've just ruined it twice. The ONLY time I'll ever mix it is to make a Boilermaker for when I've had a VERY, VERY bad day.

On evenings like that even the pets stay away from me and "The Vixen" simply goes shopping.

I prefer Scotch "neat" as well.
Room temperature with no water or ice ruining it.
I drink Bourbon Manhattans straight-up chilled in a Martini glass with no "rocks" other than those in the shaker chilling it before serving.

By the way, water based finishing systems all are RUBBISH.
Switch back to a proper VOC solvent laden sealer.
No Noxious Fumes= NO GOOD. NG ! NG !
