German C6-3 motors by WECO. No date easily noted. Quest imported WECO motors early, but they has gray nozzles of possibly ceramic and graphic mix. Anyway, pretty.

Don't know why it is upside down.

I don't have any great recollection of AAA other than what I have read and that mostly dealt with their kits. I do not even recall where I got those two motors, but it might have been at a Kentcon in the early '80s when I was stationed in Michigan. This is all I found:

I could not get the pdf file to open on my old computer. I imagine that they were the same folks. I have all of the old Model Rocketry magazines, Model Rocketeers, AmSpams, and Sports Rocketry magazines, but it would take a while to go through all of the applicable ones. Might be something for a cold winter's night...

In these two photos are the large black powder motors available in the 1960s. The bottom two are Coasters. The yellow one an E with 3.5 pounds of max thrust and 2 of average thrust and blue one a F with 40 pounds of thrust.
Coaster was in Euless, TX which is one of the mid-cities here between Fort Worth and Dallas.
Centuri out of Phoenix made motors which in the '64 catalog was a lone F11-3 with 11 pound-second impulse. In 1965 they offered the Atlas E motors (E3.3, E3.1, and E2.8) and F11 and F25. In the 1967-68 catalogs (www.ninfinger.org), the motors were renamed Mini-Max. Designations were D2, D1.5, D3.9, E1.3, E3.5, F10 and F14. Lee Piester had purchased Coaster in the mid60s and moved production to Phoenix.
In 1969 the Mini-Max line was E7, F55, and F94. In 1971 they were E15, E62, F16, and F97.
Centuri had also purchased the Enerjet line from Irv Wait and Rocket Development Corp. Enerjets superseded the Mini-Max line in 1971 with the E24, F52, and F67. Enerjet had its own catalog with those motors in 1972.
The F94-4 in my collection has a serial code, but no date. Neither does the E15-8.

I worked for North Coast Rocketry after retiring from the Air Force. Previously they had sold relabeled motors. They were developing their own line of motors. I have a F30-4 and a G50-7 Impulse.
I was not part of the licensing agreement with Estes which resulted in Matt and Dan moving to Colorado. There they and the Estes motor folks developed the F62 Darkstar motors. I provided one to Matt and we flew one of his revived NCR models at NARAM 55. Great motors. To bad that the head of Estes at that time canceled North Coast Rocketry by Estes just so he wouldn't have to pay royalties. Or so I have been told.

I met Scott Dixon in 1972 while in missile tech school in Rantoul, Illinois. Scott experimented with composite propellants and later formed Vulcan Systems. I flew several and have a F55-1@, F80-9 Smokey Sam from 1988, and G97-10.
Scott also made larger motors for the HPR market and was employed by Estes. The last I heard he was concentrating on the industrial applications and not hobby.

Finally a couple of Ellis motors. The owner passed away and the motors went out of production. I never flew any of the ones I bought.
