Default Olympus custom rebuild

1st post. Son started 4H this year and this year has been our 1st venture into model rockets. The Olympus is my second build.

1st flight happened before the finishing touches were done. Flew excellent and then the chute caught winds aloft and it sailed forever across the open space and a neighborhood.

Found it posted on Facebook the next morning (pic attached). By the time we got there it was heavily damaged (pic attached). Weighed several options and decided to rebuild with extended length (pic attached). Still need to check stability. 37” long

Between the increased length and that camera in the payload section, stability is not going to be a problem. The increased length alone will make it more stable, not less.

Gutted and reconfigured GoPro for flight. Still need to order a lighter battery. Rotated the lens so the wide angle view would align with the horizon instead of verticals.

We’ve done one flight since the rebuild without the camera.

Should return some great videos! Once you have made some, post a link here for us all to see what you capture.
