Ouch! I didnt know the details on the Apogee II and Alien Space Probe.

Maybe the motor on your Sky Warrior was clogged with clay from the nozzle? I had that happen last year. Finally picked away in nozzle and little pieces of light gray “stuff” came out. Worked fine afterward.

I agree with Lee. I've seen this—a bit of clay from the forming of the nozzle that essentially blocks access by the igniter—on a handful, maybe, of Estes motors of various sizes over the years. If it goes through two or more igniters and doesn't go, that's what I'd check.

How’d I read this thread and not notice this until today? You actually had 1/4A and 1/2A motors? Wow, I am shocked!

I like to fly AND recover all my rockets.
If the field is small (and it was), I adjust power accordingly.
That said, if the field is large, I usually max power.

Yes, there is such a thing as NORMAL
, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, and HAVOC !

Speaking of clay in the nozzle, I scrape the inside of all my upper stage motors to make sure the surface is clear of obstruction. I've never had an upper stage fail to ignite. I seldom have a pad ignition failure, but when I do, I do the same thing with the single stage motor before inserting a new igniter.

I think I learned this from Doug Sams not long after YORF came online.

I learned it from Mark Fisher after we watched my Estes Beta clone do a post-hole right in front of us in 2002. My first visit to VOA.
