Companies almost always state they are on solid ground right up to the point of disappearance.
Statements of "novel accuracy" or "spin" are regularly released by corporate PR departments during times of financial crisis. May or may not be the case here in this instance, but not uncommon when a corporation is in bankruptcy.

One possibility is the lien holders could become the new owners of Estes and Revell. The operating companies themselves are good to go. Nobody has incentive to dissolve Cox or any of the brands Hobbico controls.
Sounds like it was managed like a D congressional committee runs the country. Debt and spending first, forget everything else. |

Agreed on both points (GH and JI). I'm just not going to be surprised either way, whether our hobby companies come out the other end of the tunnel stronger than ever, or disappear forever over the edge of the "flat earth".

Thanks. Very interesting, but obviously an incomplete picture.

99.9% legalese in those documents and 0.01% real information.

The answers just don't pop right out there for you. You do have to read a bit. There is so much detail in those documents that it can take someone a while to pore through them. Collectively they tell the story of "what happened," "what's going to happen," and much much more. The ultimate answer still alludes us, but if details interest you then there is a look to look through. The auction date is March 26, 2018 at 10:00 am CST. There hearing date for the sale is March 28, 2018. Hopefully we'll learn more about ultimately what's going to happen, who bought Estes' assets, etc. after that date. Anyone want to see all of Estes' payments to be made to anyone owed any money within 90-days of the filing? http://upshotservices.s3.amazonaws....d06c2719b01.pdf Here's a schedule of all Estes' assests and liabilities. Want to know what kit names Estes had retained trademark rights for? Read this: http://upshotservices.s3.amazonaws....c0a4599baf6.pdf -W

I thought the list of trademarked kit names was surprising small. Lots of kits not listed. About the only classics I saw listed were Alpha and Bertha. No Farsides, Tridents, Orbital Transports, Goblins, ...

I believe that Semroc owns them. I may be wrong, but not far off wrong.

Interesting. I had assumed it was a “gentleman’s” agreement, but it makes more sense if it’s a more formal agreement. I wondered about trademarks when I’ve seen releases like the Spaceman and Farside-X.
