G-man, the very first hobby Shop I ever set a foot in was JOE"S BIKE SHOP on Van Dyke in Wanner Michigan. That must of had been in about 1963. I was 7 years old, and I went there for the big slot car tract they had. Joe's was on Van Dyke between 8 and 9 mile on the east side of the street.
I did not start my Space Career until December of 1966. my first Model Rocket came from
Hobby World in the Universal Mall at 12 mile and Dequinder. ( White Castle is on the corner).
I think Joe's became a Chain Store and the Hobby World did not last more that 5 years in the Mall. I remember that there was a Hobby Lobby on Woodward in Ferndale, I wounder if it was
part of the current Hobby Lobby Chain?
