Estes F.R.O.G.S.?
Back in the 70’s, I built a lot of Alphas contained in the Estes F.R.O.G.S. kits stashed at my local science center/planetarium. Still have 4 from various years, and was wondering what the motivation/history behind these were. I guess they were intended to be freebies to entice teachers into Rocketry, but when were they first released and when did Estes stop producing them?
Any information would be appreciated.

I have never had one but from what I have seen listed on eBay they have gone back as far as ‘74, running up to as late as ‘86. Those years are drawn from the catalogs that are inside the boxes.
But, I have no experience with them other than that. And a fair number of the ones listed on eBay are still sealed. Earl

I had MANY FROGS. My pay forward is to give a BMS School Rocket or a U.S. Rockets All Weather to any kid that will take it. They weren't in the catalog. They were an educational product.

I know the early ones started with the balsa nose version, and continued into the second generation with the plastic (yechh) nose cone and uggggly decal. They always had the newer Estes logo so it had to start after 1969.
