Very easy to ignite; I almost always just used plain Solar igniters.

Makes me wonder what the propellant formula was. Nice freshly cured generic formula APCP even takes a little nudge to get going. It gets harder (to ignite and physically harder) as it ages, though a little roughing up of the core or slot will help it considerably.

It's easier to ignite than even blue thunder.
Gary at Aerotech would know. He was a major player at CD back then.
I burned an E20-7 CD Pro Jet from '81 about 3 years ago. Flew fine, delay worked.

, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, and HAVOC !

No idea about the Crown motor.
I still have some Pro Jets from the early 80's, never had one fail.
Have heard that some old composite motors have delay problems/failures to eject, but I have not had that issue.

I've seen a few grains shrink and crack or pull away from the cardboard tubes over the years. If that has happened, you will over pressure. If it has stayed together, you have a decent chance of success, assuming it is just a generic APCP formula. I have no idea how other propellants age. Jerry has seen a lot more grains than I have, and may have an idea what CD Pro-Jet and Crown used since he used to rub elbows with Gary.
