Rocketeers grew up and didn't "pass along the heritage" to their children and grandchildren.

Then, HPR came along and became "legal" . . . HPR "seduced" adult rocketeers away from Model Rocketry, which led them to see Model Rockets as "toys".

Competition, while never a majority of activity in the NAR, took a huge "hit", especially once HPR rocketeers started viewing Competition as an "inconvenience" or as an "impediment" that took "flying time" away from HPR flying, especially the Duration events.

I miss the "golden era" of Model Rocketry and I am proud to have grown up during it !

PS - I enjoyed "HPR" a lot more, before it was "legal".

My HPR was more by-my-self-outlaw. I built one that used 2 F100's in strap on boosters with an F7 in the main rocket. Later on I had 3 F100's on the booster lighting off an F7 on the second stage. Then I got married and started having kids......
