Zog also flew an Estes Vector Force on a B6-4. This was the first time I'd seen one of these. Now I want one. Cool bird.
Here's a shot of Zog whiffing the recovery. He Zogged when he should have Zagged.

He also had at least two flights on his Explorer, an Estes QCC Explorer minus the QCC. First flight was perfect, straight up and down on a C6-5 with an adapter.
Flying with Zog is like flying with a retriever.

Second flight didn't go quite so well. This C6-5 was noticeably underpowered.
Bleah. The good news is that it dropped some after this picture was taken. Today I was able to take my Grandpa's old Cincinnati Bell pruner up and do some pruning. I snipped away two of the three branches that it was caught on, then got the shock cord tangled in the pruning head. From there it was simple enough, just keep pulling until I could grab the rocket, then slice the shroud lines with my Case Sodbuster. It needs a new chute, but that's a small price to pay.

At least a couple of flights of his Nike variant that I suggested he call the Nike Zog. (Why not? ) I'm trying to print up an Estes Bandit decal sheet for it, so maybe the next time it will look more militaryish.

Sorry about the excess of rocketry content. I'll try to be more off-topic the next time.

Great photo essay! I never seem to be able to get those liftoff shots. But then I usually launch alone, and it's hard to hit the launch button and the shutter button simultaneously.
The B6-4 Field sounds a lot like my local field on the school district grounds. In fact, I have two adjoining fields, a "B6-4" field and a less-frequently used "C6-3" field. (Less frequently used because it is a short walk from the parking lot, instead of being right next to it.) I have launched D and E motors on the smaller field, in saucers and have crashed a few gliders in it. (I hope one day to have a glider that actually, you know, glides. ) I have to shag my own rockets, too. (First world pains.) I so want to get a Vector Force!

Zog did all the button pushing, so I got to concentrate on the launch shots. Pretty good trade-off, but I need to work on my camera settings. Too much blur. Try the Edmonds Cici! The only problem I ever had with it was because of the Estes shotgun ejection charges that snapped the boom. Seems to me that I saw a Vector Force at Hobby Lobby recently, so I'm hoping I'll find one on my trip this week.
