Chris (hcmbanjo) had that happen. Someone mailed one of his eBay rocket purchases in an envelope! It actually survived well enough for him to be more amused than upset.

It's happened to me too. A vintage Estes Ranger kit (the one with the Exocet NC) in a manila envelope. Flattened into oblivion.

IIRC I paid about ten bucks shipping for this mess. The seller was apparently gouging on shipping by shipping first class.

The exact same thing happened with a vintage Estes Dragonfly B/G from a different seller. The BNC-5 was flattened so terribly it looked like a communion wafer.

The honest sellers (like myself--and others like myself [we know who we are]) endure--the lame ones come and go.

It amazed me when people complain about shipping costs on Ebay. I build in a $5.00 handling charge on built models so I can ship Priority Mail regardless of the customer selecting Parcel. I want the tracking number and they should be happy with the speed. The longer in the system the more chances to eat one.
