Default Please Help Identify

Hi! I'm new to the Forum, though not new to model rocketry. In my vault of old kits and pieces, I have the remnants of a rocket, shown in a photo on my Flickr page, at: https://www.flickr.com/photos/althausr/ . I remember this rocket as having one additional booster, to make it a three-stage rocket. I was wondering if someone out there might help me identify it, so that maybe I could recreate the missing parts and get it back flying. Maybe the decals might help. Perhaps the fin profile, or the tapered engine shroud. I think I must have built this back in the mid-to-late 1960s (but perhaps in the mid-to-late 1980s). Most of the rockets I built were from commercial kits, either Estes or Centuri, though I can't find this depicted in online versions of either company's catalogue. Do any of you have any suggestions?

Thanks...Rick

That looks like an Astron Shrike with the booster fins incorrectly glued to the upper stage tube instead of properly on the booster.
The correct upper stage fins have a profile similar to an Astron Alpha.

Yes, there is such a thing as NORMAL
, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, and HAVOC !

I've had a go at repairing some just epic disasters of old, beat-up rockets, but I think that one is a little too far gone. . . .

Thanks so much! This is certainly it. I sure appreciate the help in the identification of my old disaster. If I am able to re-create it, I'll post a photo.

Man, it's hard to believe that within 12 minutes of posting, you had it nailed!

Rock(et) on!

Rick

...By the way, the fins that are showing ARE on the booster, and the booster is shoved up into what remains of the main tube. It looks like I had cut off the bottom of the main stage-- maybe it was wrecked in the crash. Do you suppose I was dumb enough to try to launch it that way? Maybe I did--that would explain why the top of the main stage tube looks like a lawnmower hit it. Oh well, we all do dumb things in high school, don't we?

Thanks again!

Semroc had the parts to build a new one...

http://www.semroc.com/Store/Scripts...Parts.asp?ID=48

... but some of them are "back ordered", i.e. gone presumably until and unless someone buys Semroc. Fortunately those are available elsewhere: The nose cone from http://www.asp-rocketry.com or http://www.balsamachining.com; the nose block from http://www.balsamachining.com/; the fins you can cut yourself from the plans on the JimZ site; the decals have been covered already; and the T-50 clear tube from http://www.asp-rocketry.com. (Those two sources probably can supply most of the other parts, too, in addition to Semroc.)

Edited to add: And there are other sources, too, e.g. JonRocket. BMS and ASP just happened to come to my mind first, and between them they had everything Semroc didn't. (ASP might have just about everything, but on a quick look I couldn't find the nose block.)
