My Astron Invader built in the 60s flew great. Nice lazy circles around the field after ejection. My build of one from my original plans back in the 90s flew a St. Louis Gateway Arch trajectory and shattered. Apparently I was a much better builder when I was 13 years old.

Here is a picture of some of my early builds. The Invader is leaned against the wall, itís silver and black, with red fins. Like many of my favorite rockets, it got some checkerboards, and itís name on it from the Estes Letters Decal sheet.

They do sell an upgraded version of it too. It's not listed on their website, so if you want to purchase it you have to ask them for it.

What's different from the regular 3" to the upgraded one?

Thanks.

Cheers,

The upgraded 3Ē school rocket has a 29mm MMT, integral motor retainer, TTW Baltic birch fins all the way to the MMT. Someone mentioned that you can purchase an optional payload/e-bay for it too.

Best as I can recall, the Viking I clone is the only BMS kit I own.

I fly it a lot! It's a good B6-4 flyer, and I've even flown it with an A8-3.

I have built "fractionally upscale clones" of the Viking II and Viking III to go along with the Viking I.

That is, using the heavy-duty BMS BT-50 tube rather than FSI's old .809" body tube.

In fact, I think I used the BMS foil-lined motor mount tube. Toast-proof!

Not to drag this too far off topic, does anybody know how to navigate BMS website on an iPhone?

Yes. Use Firefox rather than Safari. This applies to both iOS and MacOS. No idea why, but Firefox does work on both platforms and Safari doesnít for BMSís site.

I have no problems with Safari at BMS, though I usually use Chrome.
