Default Clear plastic fin unit for BT-60 Gemini Titan kit

Asking for a friend.

Does anyone have an extra clear plastic fin unit from the Estes BT-60 Gemini titan kit? Or do you know if that fin unit was used on another kit?

Thanks,

Steve

I do not have an extra, but it was used in the Titan II missile kit and the MX missile kit as well.
A black version was also produced, but not sure what kit used it.
I do know the black ones are far sturdier than the clear ones.
I have busted fins on my Titan II and MX multiple times.

Yeah, you could take a black fin unit and spray it was some Krylon ‘clear’ coat to make it clear again.

LOL, I never thought of that.

And GH, thanks for the info. Unfortunately those other kits are just as desirable as the Gemini Titan. It’s not like you can just pick one up and use the fin unit from it. But if anybody has an extra fin unit, please let me know. I figure the chances are low but with this crowd, it’s possible.

You would be better off getting a black one.
The clear ones are brittle.

Steve, I may have an extra clear one. I'll look for it tonight.

There’s a chance I have an extra one also. Will you also need the top disk of it that the fin unit “bayonet mounts” into? I won’t be able to look for it until I get home from Montreal.

Ah, Quebec in the winter! I must’ve lost a bet.

The Estes Beta Launch Vehicle kit also uses the same clear fin unit. In the past when I’ve kit-bashed a Beta Launch Vehicle into a Recruiter I’ve retained the plastic fin unit, and that’s the ONLY reason I might have one. Also, the Beta Launch Vehicle kit comes up for sale FAR more often that the Gemini Titan.

Buzz,

Thanks so much!

Jeffy, thanks for your offer but not needed now. And as for Montreal in the winter, Montreal is beautiful all year round!
