THAT’S why the name “Impulse Aerospace” sounded familiar. Several clubs around here happily use those beasts of HPR pads called Quad Pods. (And I try to avoid being the one to carry one back to the trailer when helping tear down after a launch. Those suckers are heavy!)

Any history you guys could provide would be great.

Kits were the following:

Chariot
Check-Six
Grymm
Mach Buster
Six-Pack
Solar Venture
Spit Fire
Star Fire

They also sold one of the best mid/hi power pads ever produced, the Quad Pod

That's all the names I remember I just didn't remember the sale to Lawn Dart Rocketry. Some of the links on the wayback machine still work but not all of them.
I remember just before they folded they released a pretty cool little scale model of the Pegasus XL. It's listed on this capture as a future product but I do remember they released it because I wanted one, procrastinated ... and then they went out of business.

Those were excellent launch pads and yes, VERY heavy.

It’s probably still on its way to Mars........and with that robust airframe it might even survive the trip!

24mm engine mount:

The engine mount tube's OD is WAY smaller than the ID of the phenolic BT so I've "fattened" it with a sheet of Avery adhesive shipping label. The adhesive of these Avery labels has an iron grip and repositioning is not possible, so I got it right on the first try. I've fattened the engine mount tube enough for a slip fit into the phenolic BT. I then apply epoxy onto the ID of the BT forward of the fin slots and between the fin slots and insert the fattened engine mount tube from the bottom. As the epoxy hardens I wrap hair stylist's rubber bands around the slotted section of the BT to keep the phenolic registered to the engine mount tube until the epoxy sets because the slots go all the way to the bottom end of the tube.

The kit has (2) options to anchor the Kevlar shock cord:
1) run the 500 lb. braided Kevlar alongside the engine mount tube and knot it at the bottom.
2) use the alternate method, which is shown in the photo.

I'll go with the alternative mount because I think option #1 stinks.

Last step for the night: accessorizing the Kevlar.

As per the instructions I tie (3) of the supplied jump rings to the Kevlar at the forward end, 6" from the end, and 12" from the end. These rings will be attachment points for the Nomex blanket, parachute, and payload/nose cone assembly. I've tied these (3) rings with lark's heads.

No booze tonight for me. I'm actually too tired to choose a Scotch. I didn't know that was possible.

Good night. TBC

I have some time to work on the model tonight.

I have a question: should I add an engine block? None was provided in the kit. If so, how far up should I put it? I don't know how long the case is on an Aerotech G55-10.

Most any composite motor (or reloadable case) made recently has a thrust ring in the case at the aft end....so a motor block is not needed.

I don't find a G55 on Aerotech's current motor matrix. But even if it's an old motor and doesn't have a thrust ring, one can use a tape thrust ring (as is done putting an Estes F15 in a Super Big Bertha or Doorknob) anyway.

added: this is interesting: http://nar.org/SandT/pdf/Aerotech/G55.pdf A little poking around shows that G55s were decertified at the end of 2007. I'm guessing because they had been OOP long enough.
