Default NCR Space Shuttle landed today

Thanks to tdracer, I’m the proud new owner of an NCR Space Shuttle kit. For now, it’ll rest on a shelf next to a few other NCR kits while I finish moving into my new workshop.

There went my rocketry budget!

Congrats. Dale! Only 100 NCR Space Shuttle Kits were made. I know because I kitted all of them from the efforts of Matt, Dan, and myself.
When you open it, it should be complete. If there are issues, well I think the statues of limitations may have expired since 1994....

Chas, I think you’re safe. It didn’t come in the original box. 😄

This is actually my second shuttle kit. Sold the first one a few years ago for what I thought was a “can’t pass this up” offer. Regretted it almost immediately.

This one is going to get built. I thought I’d have all this building and flying time once I retired. Instead spending most of my time renovating a 120+ year old house on the Eastern Shore of MD (only 30 minutes away from MDRA’s launch sites).

The real question is: Are you going to fly it?
I know that mine will never fly - but that's largely because I don't do RC - and I don't want to risk the orbiter to free-flight. Heck, I don't even want to hand toss it to check the trim.

Ssssh, don’t tell anyone, but my super secret plan is to recover the whole thing under chute and not deal with the shuttle gliding. 😇

It’s going to be awhile before I get up the nerve to tackle the vacuform plastic pieces. Really have a love-hate relationship with those things.

Not sure where in the build queue this will end up. After moving twice in the last few years, I was embarrassed by how many rockets are now in my possession. I now have the second story of a three car garage/barn pretty full of 35+ years of collecting and building. Still have the parts of my TRA certification rocket (AAA Magnum PA Crude) from 1991 to repair.

Recovering the orbiter under 'Chute is mamby-pamby.
Put R/C gear it it and recover in scale manner.

Yes, there is such a thing as NORMAL
, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, TURMOIL, FIASCOS, and HAVOC !

Hire George to set it up and fly it for you.

I’d need him to pilot it for me too 😀

He is afraid of inadvertently modeling the final Columbia mission...
