Capsule touchdown 10:23 mission elapsed time. Nice soft landing.

If I had to make a choice for a joy ride up it would be on Blue Origin due to going up on a real rocket and the bigger windows. Neither are worth there price tag though. Even though Blue Origin goes higher its total flight time is shorter than Virgin Galactic.

Yeah, short ride for the cost. Hopefully over time (and who knows how much time) that cost will come way, way down.

That’s cool and all, but why did they make it look like a gigantic dildo?

I think one thing we forget about these suborbital launches is that they can open up a whole new world for sounding rocket experiments. We launch sounding rockets with experiments pretty regularly from Wallops and elsewhere. However, all of these must be automated. With both Virgin and Blue Origin now able to launch crewed suborbital flights, we may begin to see a whole new realm of suborbital experiments that use human interaction.
If we get some really good competition going, the cost can come way down. Now even small colleges can put cube-sats in orbit. Take it to the next step and imagine small local colleges doing crewed suborbital launch experiments. I think there is more to Virgin and Blue Origin then just a rich kids joy ride. |

LOL! A most unfortunate happenstance. You’d think a bit of modesty would inspire them to put a fairing around the base of the capsule or something…sort of like mythical Victorian Age piano leg covers…😆 |

This flight was shorter than Shapard's first 15min suborbital MR launch.

You’re just now noticing this? I seem to recall quite a discussion about that here some time ago, when New Shepard and the booster first appeared. …but I can’t find it right now.

They actually spent some time on this notion of doing microgravity research in a hands-on way on the generally embarrassing show around Richard Branson’s flight. And there have been a couple of experimental payloads on previous New Shepard flights, so this is at least somewhat in Blue Origin’s plan as well.

It boils down to the fact that I cannot stand the guy, so I do not follow his exploits. I will concede that Blue Origin has proven itself to be more successful than I ever expected.
