Does anyone know how the fins are attached? They look like they might be attached directly to the motor case or maybe it's some kind of fin can.

The Bristol Aerospace Workshop Drawing that Dave kindly provided the download link for earlier in this thread indicates the use of a fin can, and that would certainly seem to coincide with photos of various BB rounds. Might be fun to try to 3D print such a unit.
