It's not scheduled until Sunday, so the field might surface before then. Still, there were a bunch of geese on the field when I went past on the way home from work yesterday, and they had Taco Bell bags.......

Doh! (in best Homer Simpson voice). Jes, I left that dimension off, didn't I. Well, 'noh' ( ), it is actually 3/32" stuff. I too thought it probably was the 1/16 stock before I got the kit bag back out and pulled the fin sheet to double check. Been about a year and half since I scanned this kit. Earl

Yes, it is a one-piece blow-molded cone. I'm not as super-familiar with the ins and outs of Estes cones as I am Centuri, so I can't really add any additional info. But, as can be seen on the first page of the instructions, it is called out as a PNC-20N. And the tube is Estes BT-20 stock...it is NOT the Centuri ST-7 material. Glad I could help 'co-ordinate' your weekend. Earl

The only rocket I recall from Estes or Centuri that used 1/16 Balsa for fin stock was the Astron Sprint, which was a "Minimum Drag" BT-50 max-Altitude 18mm design.
There may have been others, but the only one I recall using 1/16 fins was the Astron Sprint. 1/16" fins get beat-up really easily.

The overall shape looks suspiciously like the PNC-20 nose cone in the Wizard, so MAYBE no one will notice. (Hmm...) And Earl, thanks for the balsa thickness. I'm whipping up a RockSim file, as well. https://forums.rocketshoppe.com/sho...608&postcount=1 Cheers and blessings,

Of the K-series kits I've built (and/or cloned), I know that the Apogee II, Astron Farside and Farside-X, Gyroc, the original K-31 Starblaser and the Midget all have 1/16th balsa (cut from BFS-20 sheet) fins. I'm sure there are others.

Interesting.
Thanks for that info. I built a vintage Astron Delta about 20 years ago. That one had 1/16" balsa also.
