I hate this for the Russian people, but I love what it's gotta be doing to Putin. The Russian ruble went in value (to the America dollar) from about 75 per dollar a couple days ago to now taking over 104 rubles to make one dollar!

Take that Putin! Put that in your pipe and smoke it!! I'd love to be on a special forces hit squad dropped into Moscow in the cover of night and pop this idiot right between the eyes with a 7mm Magnum hollow point. D**n idiot!

I don't think it was meant as fake news. After their "Go F yourself" reply to the Russians, they were shelled and communications were cut. It was assumed that they died in the shelling.

Not long afterwards, the Russians claimed they captured them and were going to return them safely. They thought that was a false report by the Russians to keep them from being martyred because you don't generally capture soldiers in a war and claim you're going to return them.

A good reminder to be critical of what we see. I don't, however, believe the CNN story linked above is fake news. Many innocent civilians are being injured and killed in this attack.

I would love to visit Ukraine and Russia and Poland and all those some day. I'd like them all to have sane governments and broad economies that benefit everybody. This last week was a horrible step backwards.

What a monumentally stupid move this invasion was. I have read that a lot of Russians (and Belarusians) are appalled by this. I suspect a lot of people in the military and bureaucracy are horrified as well. The fact that Putin conducts meetings at the end of a really long table suggests he has doubts about the loyalty of his people.

In the meantime:

Those kinds of stories were suppressed by the mainstream media when we (USA and NATO allies) were causing collateral damage (i.e. killing women and children) in Iraq and Afghanistan. But no way that we, the West, could ever be the baddies. Putin is the only bad guy.
