Now for the forward wing hold down. Laying the 220-covered Corian board across BOTH herculean thighs (heart be still) I scrape the leading edge and the outer edge of the basswood hold down into a round profile. I then glue it onto the BNC and fillet it with epoxy. The main wing is tight in the slot of the hold down--and will only get tighter when it's painted. I'll either make the wing tip thinner or the slot larger--or both.
I have a rhetorical question: why is it called "Scissor Wing Transport" when it's actually a swing wing--much like the Crusader Swing Wing? IMO if ANYTHING should be referred to as "Scissor Winged" it would be the Estes Tomcat or the Holverson Design Swinger. TBC

I see your point, but I think when it opens or closes if you look at one side it is the scissor made by the tube and the wing, and the other side tube and wing is the handle side of the scissor. So it is really a Scissor Transport, but that sounds like it is carrying a bunch of Scissors. Maybe it is in the Estesverse.

The model has now been given a coat of diluted Elmer's wood filler and sanded, followed by (3) sanded coats of eRockets sanding sealer with the final sanding done with 400 grit. Before painting it I'll need to do some creative masking of the moving parts. I won't be mounting the elevator and it's hinges until after the entire model is painted.

The final build looks quite close to the 2nd gen Estes kit (1265), main difference is no round plastic pivot showing on the top, and the launch lug on the bottom, as the 1265 had it integrated into the pivot.
What grits of sandpaper do you use on the eRockets sanding sealer 1st and 2nd coat, before the final 400? And did you consider painting the main wing separate from the body? Pretty sure I did that on my 1265 build.

I’ll paint the main wing separate from the body—it removes easily with the single pivot axle screw. I’ll also paint the pop-pod separately. These were the finishing steps: diluted wood filler, let dry, sand with 220, eRockets sanding sealer, let dry, sand with 320, eRockets sanding sealer, let dry, sand with 320, eRockets sanding sealer, let dry, sand with 400.
