I hear ya....

Clothes shopping as a kid was the worst punishment I could imagine. Hated it. And those feelings have not changed the slightest bit for me as an adult.

I don't mind going clothes shopping maybe 3 times a year. More than that, no thanX !

Clothes that "wore like iron" back in the 70's/80's often have been "cheapened" in quality although the brand remains the same.

I've told this story before, but it's telling as far as my fashion sense. When I was a kid, we were at Value City on a totally unrelated shopping expedition. They had pants in my size that were made of something akin to sailcloth for $1 a pair. Mom said "Will you wear these?" Me, no dummy, said "SURE!" I figured it would save me from a future shopping trip. Two pair were some off color khaki, the other was brown, white and navy striped. I think I got two years out of them as long play pants and another year as shorts.

Thankfully, I don't think I have ever worn clothing to come from a store with "value", "mart", or "city" in the name.

No farm stores selling Carhartt yay-hoo/hayseed workwear either.
I have a lunkhead relative that only wears Carhartt and some other workwear brand in all situations. He showed up to a FUNERAL in a stupid 70's foam trucker hat and a Carhartt jacket & jeans about 5 years ago. I thanked him for dressing for the occasion. He DIDN'T get the drift.

If the joint sells pretty much everything, their clothing department is a disaster.

I'll stick to Macy's, Nordstrom, Saks 5th Ave, and the outlet malls.

Had a wedding yesterday, so my wife and I went out to Macy's to pick up a new shirt for me. I won't bother going back because the men's department now has two sub-departments, ghetto and gay. I'm not planning any major changes at this stage in life, so I'll be finding another place to shop.

Uhhhh noo....

Macy's carries quality decent clothing from brands like Polo, Tommy Hilfiger, Nautica, and Tommy Bahama to name a few.

No yay-hoo Dickies, Carhartt, or other "industrial" nonsense.

Upscale brands only.

May still be that price? I bought a pair of Costco jeans for $12.99 (Kirkland brand, like their other in-house brands). Much heavier than the woke Levi's jeans that sell for north of $50 . I bought them for yardwork, but they are actually decent jeans. But, you get a plain pocket on back, so they're basic. (Kirkland brand, like their other in-house brands)

By the way ... Nice report Bill!

I still am amazed how much you fly at a launch, and have time for pictures, then put together such a detailed summary.
