The Town Hall Meeting, at NARAM, is on Friday. I doubt we will hear anything before then. The BoT has a lot of explaining to do. Members are angry and will demand answers, not deflections, excuses, or denials. Fact : There is no record in the BoT meeting minutes of any previous discussion, motions, or voting, regarding changes to the Sport Range at NARAM. Fact : The BoT did not discuss anything regarding the Sport Range at NARAM, with the membership at large, and did not seek their input in any manner, in advance. Fact: The June, 2022 BoT meeting minutes allude to previous Board decisions, none of which are recorded in previous records of the minutes. Fact : The decision to terminate the NARAM Sport Range, starting with NARAM-64, was stated in the BoT June, 2022 meeting minutes, yet no record of any motions or votes are recorded anywhere. Fact : https://www.nar.org/board-of-trustee-meeting-minutes QUOTE: The Board of Trustees also meets monthly via conference call. Minutes from these meetings are posted to this page within two weeks of the meeting. Any motions that are moved and seconded during conference calls will be included in the minutes and tabled until the next meeting so that all NAR members have an opportunity to provide comments before the final vote. END QUOTE : The BoT has violated policies and procedures and needs to be held accountable for their actions. In order to properly address the problem, remedy the situation, and prevent future recurrences, eveything must be "on the table", up to and including the removal of Trustee's and/or Officers, if warranted. With the overall lack of interest in competition (98% of membership NOT interested), logically THAT is the portion of a NARAM that should become optional, not vice-versa.
NAAAHHHHH..... THAT would be far too LOGICAL. There are a handful that care about competitive flying, but the vast majority do not. Get rid of the sport range and watch the turnout to be 10% the attendance of the past. Makes NO sense .

Hmm . . . "Crickets" from the NAR . . . The membership at large has the right to know the contents of the Town Hall Meeting. I bet there will be no video of the meeting this year, for obvious reasons ! Dave F. |

You know Dave, you're tilting at windmills here.
I went thru this about 15 years ago and just gave up because the NARBOT will do whatever it wants to do and the NAR membership input be ****. That's my experience. YMMV

That's why the option to remove all of them, in one "fell swoop", is "on the table" . . . Dave F. Last edited by Ez2cDave : 07-21-2022 at 09:43 AM. |

The last NARAM that I was at " and it's been a few years" it seamed to me that the young contestants and some of the adults, were mesmerized. Also I noticed that many of them had the: my rockets better that yours , I know you are but what am I attitude. Yes at my local club we would talk smack to each other but at NARAM this went on all day every day. I went to NARAM for the sport launch and to meet other rocketeers. to sell and trade the rocketry items I had. NO SPORT LAUCNH WILL= a large drop in attendance. and maybe and drop in membership overall.

There is one aspect not yet mentioned - no sport range means no test or practice range for contest birds.
