Looks like it is coming along pretty well. I had to look up ‘blind robin’. Never heard of that before (blind ‘robbin’ as it seems to be spelled). Never would have guess it is what is is, though sounds good.
Good luck with the rest of the build. Earl

At 62 I probably shouldn’t be eating anything THAT salty, but I just crave them sometimes.

I hear ya. I crave salt sometimes and luckily I have no blood pressure issues (just shy of the 6-0 myself). But, I guess there is such a thing as just TOO much salt....though I'm not sure exactly where that line is. I'm sure I have crossed it more than once. Earl

YUCK is right on that "blind robin" so-called food.
Unfit for a PRISON PUNITIVE food program.

It's an acquired taste I guess. Bear in mind: in colonial times, lobsters were fed to prisoners.
Note to self: refrain from eating salted smoked herring fillets just before bed. "The Vixen" said my breath was so bad it was like sleeping next to a walrus. The smell would have gagged a plumber. I said to her, "you would know." She then hit me and went back to doing laundry as instructed. (no, she does not read these posts) ANYWAY, the booster is assembled and filletted and the divots created by the reverse sides of the tab slots have been filled with Elmers wood filler and sanded. Hmm, I guess I thought it would be a little bit larger. Now for the orbiter. TBC

How is the wood? Is it like the heavy, dense wood that I find in a lot of Estes kits?

Yes. Heavy, dense, and tight-grained. TBC

Are there exhaust tubes that exit the simulated jet intakes on the booster like the original ??

Yes. I suspect Jeff is going to do some filling/sanding before putting them in — but he can tell us that.
Chris Michielssen is doing a build of one of these on his blog right now. Wednesday's installment shows the tubes in place. They are short lengths of BT-20.
