A proper Dope/Lacquer Thinner contains all the following Organic Solvents:

MIBK
Acetone
MEK
Toluene (Toluol)

Optional:
n-Butyl Acetate
Ethyl Acetate
Xylene (Xylol)

and ZERO Methanol or any other Alcohols.

Now there’s some stuff that used to smell good!! I don’t shoot/hunt like I used to, but cleaning the guns afterwards was always a treat!

Always reluctant to let me feminine side peek out, but if they made sawdust filled candles I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

No need to feel bad. I am a woodworker and I have taken old candles, melted them with sawdust mixed in, and used for starters in the fireplace. (Or you could obviously buy a block of parrafin.). A cardboard egg carton makes a good container to fill. Then just test them apart to use.

I've been known to clean a gun that I haven't even had out of the case...

I might have even been tempted to do a ‘gun cleaning’ that didn’t even involve a gun at all……
