How do you pronounce it? "rool" (rhymes with "drool") is the only thing I can think of.

Sean

I had knee surgery (nothing too complicated) just this past March... but if I have to walk from Houston to Kenosha then I won't come to NARCON. Hopefully I'll either drive (a rental car, NOT my 1993 Escort) or fly.

That's why I had my surgery in the first place!! I was tired of hopping.
Well, tired of hopping and tired of intermittently feeling a sudden, really painful popping sensation that made me say bad words.

(heavy sigh of mock disapproval) You shoulda gone with the ladder... I mean, "latter."

(chuckling) I remember reading the 1970's Centuri catalog with the FlutterBy, I think, and pronouncing the words "exotic" and "unique" as "ee-TOX-ic" and "un-KWI."

And I was embarrassed to mispronounce "Avenger" as "AV-en-jur" while talking with my former boss about motorcycles... of which he knew a lot, and I knew... (Schultz voice) "*NUSS-sink!*"

(who *occasionally* consults Bill Eichelberger as "The Human Thesaurus")

I was sure that Amazon was pronounced "uh-MAZE-on" when I was in grade school. And there was this one girl in my class (Geri Henderson, IIRC) who pronounced "environment" as "envy-RON-ment".

"Scotty the Pooh?" Dang Bill , you're killing me! "Scooter the Pooh" would be good as well! Yeah, I've been laying low but I've been keeping up on every post to OldRockets on Yahoo for months, I just don't have much to say just now. I feel like a schmuck missing NARAM and all, but what ya gonna do?

Now why do I need to be out of town during NARAM? Winton Woods is right up the road from where I live! When you go up Winton Rd. north to I-275 to get to get to 75-N, you'll pass Johnny's Toys in Greenhills on the right. Check in there for Estes kits and motors for 30% off of MSRP. Also, watch the speedlimit on Winton through Greenhills since the GH cops make a fat living off speeders.

"RUR-ull" is how they told us to say it in broadcasting school. (Of course, some folks couldn't figure out how large areas outside of town could possible "rule.")

But as Bill E. often observes, "YMMV."

Cheers,

P.S. Saying "Rural Route Two" was tough to do as a kid... and it still is as an adult!

Be sure to visit Mo's when you get to Newport for seafood - locally famous for their shrimp.

Sean,

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll pass it along to "She Who Rules the Pocketbook."
