Default Vintage Estes Teros build

I am still working on my X-Wing and allowing the paint to dry. I decided to begin on the Estes Teros. This looks to be a simple but fun build. For the first time I filled the sprials on my Golden Scout with Balsa Sealer while I was sealing the balsa. This was easy since all I did was brush the sealer into the spirals. It was fast and did not require sanding. I will try that technique on this rocket to see how it works.

That's interesting. My late 70's vintage Teros came with stick-on decals instead of waterslides.

That is weird, since the instructions label them as water-slide. These are in great condition, and should go on easy.

I built one of those in the early 80's and it had "Peel-n'-Stick" decals, not water-slide also.
My Teros was the first kit I ever saw with decals that were not of the "water-slide" variety.
Sounds like they changed at some time during the production run.

Yes, there is such a thing as NORMAL
, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, TURMOIL, FIASCOS, and HAVOC !

Teros used to be a Cold Power kit just like the Scamp. The cold power kits in 1972 used peel and stick decals. I have 3 Scamp rockets, 2 with water slide and 1 with peel and stick.

That makes me wonder if mine was a leftover cold power kit that was revamped for regular motors in 1976 and somehow didn't get shipped for a few years. It first showed up as a regular kit in the 1976 Christmas catalog. I think mine was bought in 1979 or maybe 1980 at the latest.

Okay,

Here's my rebuilt and repainted late 70's Teros (came with stick-ons) with brand new Excelsior Decals that went on fabulously. Next to it is a just-finished Big Teros using a Semroc BT-60 ramjet cone for 24 mm.

Now if I can talk Phred into some up-scale decals . . . .

I have the rocket built, fillets are drying and the spirals and wood filled with Aerogloss balsa sealer. Will begin priming tomorrow.
