Carl-
That is absolutely great to hear ! I'm glad that they have been welcomed back into the fine company they founded so many years ago. Most of us BARs would not be still involved in the hobby were it not for Estes and Centuri as well.

I assume that means you went over there, *and* got in? Was there an organized tour for NARAM folk, or did you just go over on your own?

A few of us from S & T went there to talk to their engine guy. We had a nice talk and got to visit where the R & D engine testing is done. Before anyone asks, I know nothing. I don't think anything they told us isn't common knowledge but S & T has rules. I can tell you that I was impressed by the QA testing they do. For some reason I just assumed they did the minimum required by NFPA 1125. They exceed that by a lot.

No tours for the public. I know one person who went over for a business meeting. He returned with a big smile and great expectations for 2011 and 2012. I was at NARAM from Friday afternoon 7/30 through Tuesday night 8/3.

I told Bill Stine about the picture I took of him in the Estes booth. Bill replied that I should have taken a picture of him shaking hands with Mike Fritz (Estes Marketing Manager). Bob Last edited by Initiator001 : 08-05-2010 at 09:29 PM. Reason: Title Correction |

Now, that's an understatement! I should have blown off the contest flying and gone with you and the rest of the S&T guys. Sounds like you had a better day.

Yeah, we learned stuff. Since you keep contest flying with pretty much the same results I question your capacity to learn. I remember one more thing I can tell. We were sitting in a meeting room and a guy walked in (I forgot his name but I think he is the general manager) and asked Ian (the engine guy) how the G motor was doing pretending he didn't know who we were. We had a good laugh.

Great, now there's going to be a rumor that can be traced back to me that there's an Estes G.
